Sunday around the kitchen table
Happy Sunday, foodie friends!
We are officially at the half-way point in the month of April. Where did the time go? I don’t know about you, but I blink and the calendar page flips to another month!
As a baker, I can tell you the spring party season has started! I’ve baked for several bridal and baby showers over the last month and already have a few May and June graduation and First Holy Communion parties on my baking calendar.
Those who know me, know I like to plan my parties well in advance, so for me personally, I start about a month or so out from the party date and get myself organized. From the guest list, menu, to party décor, I take to my notebook (pen and paper is my thing!) and begin making my master party list. I make list, check it twice (sometimes three and four times) and cross off items as I complete them.
Before I was blessed with the title of “Mom” I worked as an executive assistant at a D.C. nonprofit. My days were spent working alongside the meetings and event planner, so I learned the ropes of party planning on a grand scale. We planned and executed an annual conference for thousands of attendees, organized monthly board member meetings, and hosted quarterly seminars for folks from all over the country.
Fast forward 25 years… (and three kids later) and here I am, still an assistant of sorts, but now it’s YOU I can assist, so If you need help with your party of 20, 40, or 1000… I’m your girl! (ok, maybe not for 1000, but you get the picture.)
Today’s “Sunday around the kitchen table” features pictures from a recent bridal shower that I had the honor of catering. For this event, I developed three new recipes, offered my ideas on flavor combinations, and worked with the hostess to ensure each guest had a variety of elegant, light bites pleasing to even the pickiest palate.
Have I told you I LOVE what I do? I love helping others celebrate life's special moments. I look forward to hearing from hostesses afterwards and getting happy texts like this one from the mother of the bride. "Oh Gina!! Everything was delicious! Everyone raved!! And the cookies, can't say enough about the number of people who went on and on!!"
Mission accomplished. Happy, well fed people. Celebrating life. Because life is good!
